Lansdowne is family owned and run – we produce cool climate wines from our vineyard in the Adelaide Hills. We focus on the relationship between soil health, vine health and grape quality to produce premium organic fruit and mindfully made wines.

A year after the Sampson Flat bushfires (it came over Talunga Ridge in the distance before being put out by Elvis)

Our journey began in 1996 when the first vines were planted at Lansdowne Vineyard. Today, we cultivate 16 hectares of various grape varieties, including pinot noir, chardonnay, sauvignon blanc, and pinot grigio, as well as smaller blocks of cabernet sauvignon and syrah (shiraz). Situated at 350 meters in the Forreston Valley, our vineyard benefits from warm summer days and cool nights, ideal conditions for grape growing.

Organic farming and sustainability are at the core of our values. Since 2018, we have embraced them in order to improve soil health, vine resilience and wine quality. We hope this commitment will inspire others in the Adelaide Hills to follow a similar path as we believe in preserving and improving the natural environment for future generations.

We believe in a less-is-more approach to winemaking. Our goal is to allow the grapes to express themselves with minimal interference. By utilising gentle techniques and keen observation, we safeguard the unique characteristics of each vintage, resulting in wines that are authentic and true to their time and place.
